Jake Lectures at the Shi Chien University in Taiwan

Giving a lecture about new ways to look at Graphic design and Illustration. He met interesting talented and articulate students from the Department of Communication Design.

 

Whilst walking through the International Design Exhibition he met one of his students James Lancett who had just the night before been awarded one of only three Adobe international Animation Awards for his joint film ‘Overcast ‘ made with fellow student sean Weston. Another of the prizes went to Julia Pott a recent Kingston Graduate. A good day!

Learning Sculpture

Jake spent some of July2011 learning how to carve stone. His research interests are moving into applying three dimensional sculpture techniques to Illustrative ideas. Last summer he worked on creating forms from entirely found artefact- this year he’s bringing these ideas together with sculpting wood and stone.

Kingston University WINNERS 2011!

Two first year Illustrators -Chungwoon Choi and Joseph Melhuish won House of Illustration Awards ( from 650 entrants).

Second year Hannah Simpson won one of the two top prizes for students in the V&A Illustration Award . Soo Choi and Ex-student hannah Rowlands were runners up.

Third Year Patricia Voscova won a ‘Best in Show ‘ at the D&AD New Blood Exhibition

Third year Helena Bradbury won a D&AD  Award !
